Last Year, our country was involved in the watching of the 2021 Baseball World Series. The teams from the American League and the National League have won their various divisions and have come together to play for the coveted trophy. Their performance is judged by the winning of four of seven games, going back and forth between the two team’s home field.
How did they get here? Through years of hard work and dedication to the game. There are nine players on the field with backup players on the bench. They have to play like a well-oiled machine, one not more important than the other. Respecting and supporting each other is the key to working successfully together. Through teamwork, persistence and a fire in the belly, both teams have worked hard, playing their best to get here.
The pitcher has to have an eagle eye for the catcher’s signals on what pitch to throw and all the players have to be aware and alert to the play they may have to make next in order to get the opposing player out. Batting practice takes hours of their time and even when studying and having awareness of the various pitches, it is still difficult to always make contact with the ball. That’s baseball.
In the end, even with all the hard work and hours and hours of training and games played, there can only be one winner. But, it is not always about winning. To have the opportunity to give it your all; to feel respect, knowing you did your very best and left it all on the field and just the opportunity to be a part of the World Series playoff is worth the challenge…..win or lose.
