Arturo Arias is a 2018 new graduate of Buchanan High School in the Clovis Unified School District. We are proud of Arturo’s accomplishments and thought you would like to know more about him. Arturo said that his four years in high school were easy and that he liked Buchanan. He had friends there, such as his cousin, Estavan and other friends such as Tyler, Robert, and Adrian. Even though summer has just started, he already misses his friends and his teachers Ms. Williams, Mrs. Bettencourt, Mr. Trotter and Mrs. Blanchette.
Arturo said he likes his school’s beautiful blue, red, and white colors. He enjoyed Math, English, and Spanish classes but his favorite was Sports Medicine where he learned how to do taping for injuries and went on many field trips including to Body Worlds Decoded at the Tech Museum in San Jose, which was his favorite. Being a senior was a happy and exciting time for Arturo. In his food class with Mr. Banano, they made burritos, pancakes, cake, and pie. The cake was his favorite, though he said it was all very tasty.
He is not just about school though, Arturo has been attending Break the Barriers gymnastics for many years and is on the gymnastics performing team. He is also a folkloric dancer and has been in many performances with this dance group. Next year Arturo is going to City College, and he wants to take Art and English classes. One of Arturo’s goals in life is to be able to pay for his own food and for things he needs when he shops at Wal-Mart. This summer he is going to volunteer at Break the Barriers helping children learn and have fun.
Arturo’s dreams for the future include driving a blue car when he takes his driving test and living in an apartment with his pet dog, Shantee. He also wants to travel and vacation in different countries and learn more Spanish. Arturo describes himself as handsome, kind, and athletic with a good attitude. We couldn’t agree more!
